Breaking: Missouri Denied Effort to Overturn Ruling Granting Michael Johnson New Trial in HIV Transmission Case

But what we know now is that the Missouri Appeals Court decision overturning Michael Jordan's 30-year conviction in HIV criminalization cases against him still stands. After his conviction was overturned — due to prosectutorial misconduct — and the case sent back for a retrial, the State of Missouri refused to accept the court’s decision and, in January, filed a motion for a rehearing in the Eastern District Court of Appeals, or a transfer to the Missouri Supreme Court. Now, we've learned that the state's motion for a rehearing or transfer to the Supreme Court has been denied by the Court of Appeals. The State reportedly has fifteen days to file an application for transfer directly to the Supreme Court.
