Getting in care and sticking with treatments helps HIV-positive people live longer, healthier lives.

More than 1.2 million people in the United States are living with HIV, but some are living better than others. That's the impetus behind the new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention public service ad campaign titled, "Treatment Works," which aims to show that sticking with care and treatment helps poz people stay healthy, protect others, and live longer, healthier lives.

The multimedia campaign features free distributable posters, postcards, infographics, website banners and videos featuring real people from across the United States who are living with HIV and sharing their true stories of how HIV treatment has worked for them.

The campaign acknowledges that people living with HIV may have to overcome barriers to getting in care and staying on treatments; but it's a reachable goal. If you're struggling with a new diagnosis, have fallen out of treatment or are just struggling to adhere to the daily doses, this campaign will help you see why treatment is so important. The website also offeres suggestions for living well, including getting mental health care, improving your diet and avoiding substance abuse.
