2015 was a year of great progress against HIV (see our year-in-review here). As we approach the new year, the HIV research foundation, amfAR, is taking stock in their Countdown to a Cure for AIDS research initiative. Now entering its third year, the initiative which represents the largest expansion of grant-making in the organization’s 30-year history: the foundation is investing $100 million in studies aimed at developing the scientific foundations of a cure by 2020.
In this video, amfAR’s CEO, Kevin Robert Frost, sits down with the organization’s VP and Director of Research Dr. Rowena Johnston and the American Health Journal to talk about how those efforts to find a cure are going.
