Aaron Laxton's My HIV Journey: "Decisions Leading Up to My HIV Infection"

In December of 2010 Aaron Laxton struggled with personal issues in his life, which caused him to abuse prescription drugs and alcohol in order to cope. His use of amphetamines resulted in his decisions to engage in risky behavior such as unprotected sex.

“It was only a matter of time before my work performance and my academic performance went downhill,” Laxton said. “As well as strained relationships with my friends, and my family. I was totally withdrawn.”

Laxton explains that he understands that loneliness can be difficult, but that are other ways to cope without the instant gratification of drugs.
