Reducing Health Disparities

Communities in Crisis African-Americans Health officials in Virginia have launched a three-year program to address racial disparities and language barriers that prevent minorities from accessing HIV health care services. Health officials and members of ethnic and faith-based organizations will help craft culturally sensitive health initiatives for minorities in the state. Early plans call for a survey of state-funded providers' cultural competence and the development of a training program for health care workers about racial prejudices.
