Jose Luis Cortes' paintings depict the HIV-positive Puerto Rican artist's life in this amazing digital gallery.

Jose Luis Cortes is one of the first out gay Puerto Rican artists, and among the first ten members in the Visual AIDS Archive. The artist is well-known in Puerto Rico, where he now resides, but hasn’t gotten the attention he deserves in the U.S. Earlier this year, the Philidelphia-born artist had a solo exhibit in the City of Brotherly Love.

Plus has the distinct pleasure of hosting a digital version of that exhibit below. Titled En Blanco y Negro (In Black and White): A Gay-Latino Perspective, it features his drawings and black and white gauche paintings on magazines and newsprint.
